Our Mission at WBEC-West is to cultivate sustainable relationships between certified WBEs and Corporate America through certifications, education, and targeted networking. Each day we are striving to fulfill this Mission, and today I wanted to touch on education and networking.

The concepts and processes of supplier diversity in the current marketplace can be overwhelming for diverse suppliers such as WBEs. In an effort to better educate and advance WBEs, WBEC-West has developed the WBEC-West Platinum Supplier Program The program will be a series of five workshops that will feature such topics as, The Truth About Supplier Diversity, Strategies to Create a Competitive Advantage, Developing and Identifying the Best Way to Utilize Your Capability Statement Based on Industry, and How to Get a Corporation's Attention.

Each workshop will be live out of Los Angeles, broadcasted to WBEC-West's local regions, and available as a live webinar. The first workshop will take place Tuesday, March 15, 2011 with a corporate presenter from The Walt Disney Company to find out more information about the event and to register.

Our speakers will provide you with the tools, resources, and insider information regarding supplier diversity and procurement. These educational workshops are designed to set you and your organizations apart from the norm. Each certified WBE who completes the educational series and demonstrates content comprehension will be designated as a WBEC-West Platinum Supplier.

One of the most valuable aspects of being certified, is joining a network of dynamic women owned businesses. I encourage all WBEs to take advantage of being part of such a unique community by attending regionally hosted event, utilize the database when looking for a vendor, reaching out to create strategic partnership, and be active in the organization. Another great way to begin networking with WBEs is to join the WBEC-West social networks Log on and tell us about your successes, opportunities, and needs. By being active on our Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn, you will not only be exposed to the network, but you will be sharing your information - keep connected.

WBEC-West is constantly developing new ways to stay connected with and create connections for our members through educational opportunities and new communication platforms. Visit wbec-west.org for more information.

Sincerely,

Pamela Williamson, Ph.D.
WBEC-West Executive Director
